At the cottage with Mike & Lindsay!

The weekend started out with a little road trip to the cottage on Skeleton Lake to meet Mike and Lindsay. They had been up there all week so we were meeting them in Bracebridge, a nearby town.

Once we got everything loaded into the car, the drive went pretty well. Cohen was great, she sat nicely in the backseat, slept here and there, and was really well-behaved the whole time. We got there a while after the sun had gone down so we didn’t get to see much right away, but we unpacked a bit and then just relaxed. We had a few drinks and took a little tour of Lindsay’s family cottage. It was so gorgeous, and everything you would expect from a cottage was there, including a bookshelf of National Geographic’s and a closet packed with board games. The cottage itself has been a project for Lindsay’s dad, and the building he has done is immaculate. Our bedroom was so cute and cozy, and considering it was her first night away from home, Cohen did so well! She just curled up and went to sleep.

The rest of the weekend was also amazing, we watched movies and had barbeque and played 90’s Trivial Pursuit. Mike and Lindsay made us a big yummy breakfast of pancakes and sausage and fruit, it was delicious. We also, later that day, ate more chocolate and chips then I care to mention. On Saturday night we sat in the sunroom of the cottage and had drinks and talked while Cohen went on a biting rampage…she’s teething worse than ever now. At night the stars up there are pretty awesome…you forget things like that living in the city.

During the day we got to stand down at the dock and look at the lake and the cottages in the area. A small island right across the way was for sale, so when we win our millions we’ll be able to buy it and start building. There was a tiny nest of baby birds with their mother, and Billy infuriated her by taking countless pictures of her babies…but the pictures were pretty worth it. The weather stayed cool and damp, which for us was just perfect. Of course it passed way too quickly, but it was a great time over all.

On the drive home we all stopped at a place on the side of the Highway called ‘The Candy Shoppe’. And yes, we did spend an obscene amount of money on candy. That store rules!!! We hit traffic and storms and saw some pretty funny signs and drivers on the way, but it made for a really good time. Oh...and some news...Harflett cut off all of his dreds!!! You have to see the pictures to believe it.

Thank you so much Mike and Lindsay for inviting us up to the cottage with you. It was amazing and we had the best time!!! In the spirit of Team America, we hope you enjoy the following photo montage:
