Girls, Girls, Girls

So I'm sitting here on a lovely Wednesday evening, drinking my coffee and awaiting the arrival of my lovely soon-to-be hubby, laughing hysterically and what I will have to label as THE most hilarious wedding book I have stumbled upon. Now, I'm cheating a bit, because this is a book called 'The Groom's Instruction Manual', and so I suppose that I really shouldn't be reading it at all, but I can't see a pretty new book lying around the house without opening it, I'm too much of a book nerd.

Not only is it hilarious, and somewhat handy, but the take on wedding planning here is completely different. You can tell the writer is trying to grab and hold the attention of the young, distracted, Maxim-magazine-reading generation of men, and they do it well. One part in particular I couldn't resist sharing. The section is basically outlined for the couple who are both getting married and do not listen to music of any kind. This is a cheat sheet for picking (and refraining from) some wedding music classics.

First Dance Songs:

1. "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson

2. "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion

3. "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" by Elton John

(Um...wasn't that song in the Lion King???)

Line Dance Songs:

1. "Achy Breaky heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus

2. "The Electric Slide" by Marcia Griffiths

3. "The Macarena" by Los Del Rio

Crowd Pleasers (bah ha ha):

1. "YMCA" by the Village People

2. "Dancing Queen" by ABBA

*A special note here in the book lets us know that all ABBA songs are sure to please

3. "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer

And here we have the best part....

Songs To Avoid:

1. "Baby Got Back' by Sir Mix-A-Lot

2. "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue

3. "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" by Willy Nelson

So as you probably guessed, I think we'll for sure be going with the Celine song for our wedding song, it's apparently highly acceptable. Either that, or we'll focus on playing all of the songs on the cheeky list.

  1. HAHAHA that is so funny

  2. Play Abba and you'll be sure to have at least one crazy friend on the dance floor.......and we all know who THAT is.
