The wedding dress...

...has a room of it's own now, down at my Mom's house. Yesterday morning we took a drive back out to Lisa's for what we thought was yet another quick fitting and a final payment...but it was ready to go! Everything fit perfectly, so we got to take it home and hang it, ready to step into on the big day. I got to test out my modeling skills as well for her, so she can add them to her site later in the fall (along with some day-of shots of course).

The dress was made my Lisa Van Hattem (link above) and I can say nothing but amazing things about her. We met her back in January at the Bridal Show downtown, and after trying on a few standard wedding dresses I knew this was the way to go. I think it really helped that she sort of 'got' the look I was going for. Everything about the design of the dress she understood....and I think she was pretty excited to get to work on something like this. We could tell from the first meeting, the sketches she had already created based on my emails and a few pictures. The whole process of 'the dress' was amazing. And it was pretty sweet that at the end of it all she was thanking me for being so easy to work with, and I gave her a big hug for being so great.

So now, we officially have the dress. Is it weird if I start referring to it as 'her' and give her a name? Guys do that with cars all the time....

  1. Lisa really made it all so painless and very, very enjoyable. I already recommended her to a girl at work who has a son getting married next year (the bride's sister already had one horror story for a gown).....
