47 days.

Just 47 more days until we walk through the door of our new home.

Now that the selling/buying is behind us, I have been able to breathe for the first time in weeks. I seriously don’t know how people buy and sell often, I’m just not cut out for it. And despite knowing full well how important it is to not get emotionally attached to a house, I do it every time! And even though it still hasn’t sunk in, it’s over now. We own a new house.

For years now B and I have planned on selling. We used to think that it would take us forever to sell, that no one would want a house so old, with old wires and an old furnace. Who would have thought that within two days of listing we would have so much interest? My goal was to be in our new house in time for our first wedding anniversary. And now, we’ll be there for B’s birthday!

The best part about moving into our new home will be knowing that it already feels like home. The second I walked through the doors, I HAD to have it. I was not-so-discreetly pulling at B’s arm in every room saying ‘We need to make an offer!! Now now now!!!” (Note, only our agent was present for this behaviour, so no, I didn’t break the number one real estate law of keeping your cool).

I can already picture us walking Cohen around the windy side streets to the park this summer. The backyard barbeques. The quiet, reserved neighbours. Heaven.

So now, life is really all about the countdown. There are so many things to do. Mostly packing up our entire house, which should be fun. That, and planning. So much planning. Colours and furniture and fabrics, oh my!
